We Love Softball

Or, else we will by the time we get through the next few months. No really, we are all really loving watching the girls play. They have all improved a lot and they are starting to catch on to all the rules and techniques. Kallie and Kassie have becomes pretty good little sliders. I didn't think they learned that young but they had no problem throwing themselves to the ground. We have finally started real games this week and they each have won their first game and Cheyanne has won her first 2. Kallie and Kassie play game 2 tomorrow night. Then they both have games Saturday morning. Well that about sums up our life for the past 3 weeks or so. It all revolves around softball.
We have managed to do a few other things. We had a ward Easter Egg hunt a few weeks ago. We all had a great time there. The girls had a few friends from school come so that was exciting. Broc and Thomas went to the Pinewood Derby. Thomas had helped Broc make a car while he was helping a few of the scouts without dad's. He raced it and was very excited to see it go. He also thought the weights Thomas put on the bottom made it go "super fast"!! Broc also had his last swimming lesson for this session, not to worry, we will be starting him in the next session in a week!! Then that will be the last one before summer. He has been playing alot with his cousins and is always excited to see them. The newness of them being here hasn't worn off yet for him. He still gets so excited when I tell we are going over to Uncle Davids that day.

Kallie and Kassie are improving so much at softball. They are starting to catch more consistantly and throwing correctly doesn't take the thought it used too. It is starting to become natural for them. Kallie has an excellent swing and can really get a great hit when she connects. Kassie's throws are harder and more accurate every practice. The one thing they are both needing to work on is their speed and reaction time. Those of you who know K&K know they aren't the quickest out of the gate type girls. So we are working on that. But it will all come with time and practice. I have to remember that they are 3-4 years younger than most of the girls they are playing with. So they have time to improve. And their coaches are great with them.
We had their PTC and both of them are getting straight A's & E's. They are doing great in school and are so far ahead of their yearend bench marks, Mrs Burns is always finding new fun things for them to do.

Cheyanne had her spring piano recital a few weeks ago. My mom and Grandma Nadean surprised us and drove over for the recital. Chey was very happy to see them. She did a fabulous job on her performance. She played 3 pieces, one a duet and the others by herself. She has very good technique and is learning new things every week. We are very proud of her. Her softball is great too. She is having to learn quicker because although she is one of the older girls it is her first year playing, so the other girls have a few years experience on her. She is catching on quick, like always. Her throws are more accurate and getting faster. She hits well, when she can keep her eyes on the pitch. Her natural talent is her speed. She is fast, and needs to remember to listen to her coaches about when to run and where to stop. She is great at stealing bases!!
We haven't had Chey's PTC yet, her teacher was sick. But I can check her grades online and she has A's and B in math. Which she promises will be an A by the end of the year. It has been a stressful quarter in her class. Lots of changes and behavioral problems from other kids going on. But she will work hard to bring it up.

Work is great for Thomas. The job site he is lead on is going well. His foreman is happy with his work and left him in charge for a few days while he was on vacation. That didn't go well with a few guys but Thomas handled it and the work got done. He has been working hard at home getting things ready for spring and summer. We have planted a few more trees, and made our flower bed rabbit proof and pretty. Not the easiest thing to acomplish both!! But it looks great! He's been working on the permanent fence. We are fencing a huge area so it will take a lot time to finish but hopefully we'll get enough done pretty quick so we can get a garden planted this year.
Lots of things going on. I am staying busy as usual with Relief Society and running kids around. I am loving all of it. People ask why we let them be involved in so much so that we are hardly home and so busy. I tell them as long as they are wanting to play sports and are enjoying it, then we will do it. It is so good for their bodies and for their growth, inside and out. They are making friends, learning to trust and be trusted and learning to work hard. It is so worth every minute we spend at practices and games. And I look foward to every new season!!
