A few weeks ago we borrowed a back hoe from a friend to dig out and level an area for a new pool. I know my husband and knew much more would get done. Well, he has definitely made the most of his time with the back hoe. Our back yard has almost doubled in size, sprinkler lines are in, rock walls have been made, back access paths are ready, boulders by the dozens are put in place, boulders have been delivered to friends, garden doubled in size, a new fire pit is dug and rock surrounding it. It will be fun to hopefully get grass planted this year. We have so much space, but so much rock, it's been impossible to put in sprinklers by hand. And some of the rocks we've found just under the surface are ones people pay hundreds of dollars for landscaping. I'm ready to start selling them myself. Anyone need landscaping boulders, just let me know!!
So here are a few before and after shots. He's still not done moving all the fence. It's going back another 30 feet or more. One day it will be a beautiful playable back yard. The kids play back there anyway, but grass and mature trees will be wonderful! I love that my husband is so talented. He can do anything he puts his mind to. A neighbor up the street paid someone $150. /hour to level their backyard and move some rocks. CRAZY! It makes me very thankful for Thomas and his ability to do ANYTHING!! Love ya babe!

THE SIDE YARD THAT IS GOING TO GET MUCH BIGGER!

THE OTHER SIDE YARD WHERE THE GRASS WILL BE AND PAST IT, THE GARDEN.

LOOKING DIRECTLY OFF THE BACK PORCH, FIRE PIT IN FRONT, PLAY AREA UP TOP.

LOOKING TOWARDS THE GARDEN ( OTHER SIDE OF GRAY FENCE) AND WHAT WILL BE THE ALL GRASS AREA

THE FUTURE POOL AREA, DUG IN TO PROTECT FROM THE WIND

THE WALKWAY UP TO THE PLAY AREA, AND SOMETIME SOON A VB COURT TO THE LEFT.

THE SIDE YARD THAT GOT REALLY BIG, THE KIDS WANT TO MAKE IT A PERMANENT CAMP SITE!
So that's the before and after. Yes, there is still lots of work to do, but we have 5 acres and can't do it all at once. The permanent fence is still being worked toward and saved for. But for now, it will do. We are excited to get the pool up and ready for this summer. Hopefully we can build a small pool deck around part of it for now. There are so many someday plans, I hope we get to all of it before we die! Kassie asked to build a tree house. I told her she could come back with her kids and build one then. Hopefully the trees will be big enough in 15 years or so!

Looking good! If you want some trees that grow big and fast, there's one my parent's had called the Aus Tree. You can even plant them really close and make a wind break. They're a willow. Your kids can have a tree house in 5 years or so. Their roots aren't really deep, but if you plant them far from the house, it shouldn't matter.
