End of Summer, Start of School

Yeah, I have been a little slow getting things blogged lately. Sorry. We tried to have as much fun as possible our last week of summer vacation. We spent two whole days in Tahoe, did school shopping, got haircuts, and all the other hurry up and get them done things!

School started on the 24th for everyone. Chey 7th, K&K 5th, Broc 1st and Nait gets to hang out with me all day, by himself. Very boring for him!

Chey was very very happy with her schedule. She was placed in the 7th honors math class, pre-algebra, she got the science teacher she was hoping for and she has leadership with Sabrina, Hannah, Alyssa and Kiley. This was all very exciting for her. So far, this is day 3, she loving everything. Basketball try-outs will start in a few weeks, so that is definitely something she is really looking forward to. She had her first young women activity and loved it. Thomas and I were also able to go with her just last night on her first Temple trip to do baptisms. We all loved it and I am so happy we were able to go too!

Kallie and Kassie are in the same 5th grade class. They have Mrs. Peterson, the same 5th grade teacher Chey had and loved, and the same class Chey volunteers in several times a week. She is the best 5th grade teacher ever. And she loves my kids, so that helps too! They love school, so they were very ready to jump back in.

Broc has Ms. Crow, who also had Chey in 1st grade. Broc would go to class with me to help in Chey's class 6 years ago. So she has known Broc since before he was 1. And we really like her too. He was very excited to see all his school friends again. He has some friends in his class, but not Alexis. This was VERY upsetting to him. He is worried about her all alone in her class and has told me everyone afternoon that he checks on her at recess to make sure she isn't sad. They really miss each other.

So that leaves Nait and I. We are managing so far, but the house in so quiet and without built in play mates, Nait is getting a little restless. We've decided to start walking several times a week with friends. We are also going to get together a play group for the little ones. This should help with his clinginess also.

So here's to another fabulous and productive school year. I am so thankful for children who LOVE to learn. And for all my children who set good examples to those around them. I am thankful they are able to help children who are not as blessed as we are and hopefully be an example to them. I could keep my kids home and teach them faster and more individualized, but then they wouldn't have the experience of helping those around them or being able to share our beliefs with others. I love that my children can be a bright light it someone's dark day!
