Cheyanne played an excellent game this last Saturday. She played center field rover and had some really good second base overthrow saves. She also played 2nd base and had some good stops and catches. The highlight of the game was her first real hit. She has fouled many and been called out at first a few times, but this was her first base hit. She hit it hard to 2nd base & got an RBI too. She recieved the game ball from her coaches for most improved this season and to celebrate her hit.
Kallie and Kassie had a great game too. They each got on base, Kallie from a walk and Kassie, hit by a pitch, again. This time just in the foot, it didn't hurt her.
This last week my mom and our long time family friend Virginia Rath came for 4 days. The purpose of the trip was to help me decorate for an Enrichment night with my mom's June beach decorations. Broc has been begging Ginny to paint trees in his room for almost two years now and it was a good time for that too. So she spent 3 days painting 2 floor to onto the ceiling trees in his room. They turned out so good. He is absolute heaven and has to show anyone who comes to the house. She painted a hole in one of the trees with eyes shining out of it. It's his Owl, he said. Thank You Thank You Ginny, he is one very happy boy!!! Pictures posted in the new album.
The girls and I went on K&K field trip to the Snakes Alive Exhibit. I kept Chey out of school and she and a friend, Alexia, went up in the car with me. Then they kinda did their own thing and kept their distance from the "little kids"!! The girls all held the snakes and were really into all the information displayed. Kassie really liked the Cottonmouth that was in a plexiglass case. She said the shiny black skin was very beautiful. It was a really fun trip. We ate lunch at the park there and the kids caught some frogs and tadpoles. Silly girls!! More pictures on the album.
One quick new Kallie-ism. It has been awhile since we had a good Kallie-ism. After school a few weeks ago they jumped in the car telling me about the new eggs the science teacher Mr. Geis brought. "Some were already pecking out and some were staying warm till they were ready in that thing, the warm box thing, oh yah, the INCUBABY!!" After I stopped laughing I asked if she ment incubator and she had to think about it for a minute and said, "Yah, I think that is what he called it, an INCUBABY." I didn't correct her. It was such a cute term for it, and after all that is excatly what it does!!
One more update on K&K. I know I've mentioned how much I have enjoyed their teacher this year. She is great and wonderful and loves my girls so much!! She called today after her lunch, she had just recieved the print out of all the testing they've been doing for 2 weeks now. She was so excited she couldn't wait to call me. Now remember that K&K are in 2nd grade. Kallie's scores were 198 in reading, 203 in language arts and 202 in math. Kassie's were 199, 198 and 211. Year end benchmark for 3rd graders, where each child in 3rd grade should be at the end of the year are 200, 201 and 202. Year end bench mark for 4th grade math is 210. So basically they are both meeting all requirements to pass 3rd grade and Kassie passed 4th grade math!! We are so proud of them. They try so hard to excell and please everyone. And they are the happiest most carefree children in the world at the same time.
Thomas has been hard at work outside. He is almost finished with the new storage shed. We started our coed games this week too. The first game was tough, most of us haven't played or ran that hard for about 6 months, we're a bit sore. But we played good and had some really good hits. Thomas hit a in the park homerun. It was a huge hit bouncing off the fence in dead center. I just finished a few really good books if anyone is interested. The first was Twilight and the sequel to it is New Moon. The author is Stephanie Meyer. She is a brand new author. Twilight was her first novel and it was an instant Best Seller and was New Moon. They are clean and engaging and very well written. I was really impressed. She has a 3rd in the series coming in August. Give them a try, I guarantee you'll enjoy them.
