Longer than Expected

This post is coming much later than I had expected, which means it will also be much longer, sorry. We have done so many fun and not so fun things in the past few weeks. So I'll get to it...

Last weekend, the 13-15, Father's day weekend, we met our friends the Klings up at Bucks Lake on Friday night and camped up there through Sunday. We had a great weekend. The fishing, according to Thomas, was his best in years!! The kids loved it too. They each caught several fish, all by themselves. On Saturday, Cheyanne, Me and Nait, Staci and Avah (18 m.), Jason and Grant (3 y.) all went for hike. We were all packing the kid following our names!! Staci is in charge of the 4th year girls over night hike for girls camp next month and wanted to hike it to make sure it was what the map said it would be. It was about 6 miles. The girls will do it in 2 days, but we did it in a few hours. It really worked me over!! I knew I was still a bit out of shape after Nait, but WOW, it was rough. But, I made it!!

Thomas was a saint and stayed back at camp with our other 3 and the 2 older Kling girls, Aubri and Alexis. The hike was great. It felt so good to get out and do some backpacking again. Chey had a great time, and of course thought nothing of it. She was packing some stuff for each of us, so it wasn't all run and play for her!! We made it back to camp in about 4 hours, not bad considering the 30 minute lunch stop and the 20 minute stop so Chey and Jason could back track to find Grants shoe. We had several "creeks" to cross that were at high run off and made getting across a little tricky, okay, a little wet!! But we had a great time and it made me really want to start backpacking again when my baby is a bit older. We got back to Thomas and the kids out fishing and having a great time in the lake. The rest of the weekend was spent eating and taking walks and just enjoying being out of cell phone range!! We had a bit of trailer trouble on the way home. Our blinker fuse kept blowing, but then it just stopped and we made it home. It was weird, but we all had a great time.

Before we left for camping I finally got my hair cut. I whacked it off good. It feels so good to have it off my neck and out of Naits death grip!

After our great week of camping we got back to a already busy week. Monday we went the Carson library to a Magic Show. It was definitely for the kids, and they enjoyed it. They all signed up for the summer reading program, and checked out lots of books. That night the girls had their softball trophy party. It was fun to see the team after a few weeks off and get every ones pictures and trophies. Tuesday morning we went and played at the park with a few other families for a couple of hours. Wednesday we headed to Sand Harbor, and we almost made it. We were just a few miles from the park entrance when the traffic stopped. About 30 minutes later NDOT came and said there was a really bad accident just a mile ahead and they would have to close the road for about 3 hours. So we turned around and were on our way back, then I thought to ask if we could get to the park from the other direction. They were pretty sure it was open on that end. So, because they kids were so excited to get to the lake for the first time this summer and I really didn't want to take home 6 ( we had a friend with us) grumpy kids, we made the 1 1/2 hour trip back to Carson, up to Reno, up Mt. Rose to Incline Village and around to Sand Harbor. Crazy, but it was worth it. The kids had a blast. The water was chilly but it didn't stop them, and we ended up having a really fun day. An interesting conversation we had on the way. Our friend mentioned that had we left a bit earlier we could have made it before the accident. I told her we had planned to leave earlier, but Nait slept later than normal and I didn't want to wake him. Then I mentioned that we should be thankful that we were behind the accident, because if we had left earlier, we could have been in the accident. Chey quickly responded that, thanks to Nait sleeping in, we were safe. And everyone agreed that Nait was meant to sleep in to keep up safe. They all felt another Hand keeping us safe. What great kids!!

Anyway, before leaving the lake, I started to feel yucky. After getting home and getting everyone dropped off, cleaned up and put in bed, I started to feel really yucky. Thomas got home really late and went straight to bed. I was up and down lots and finally took some stomach medicine about 2am. About 30 minutes later my hands started itching and swelling, my face and head started itching and I started shaking. I woke Thomas and told him what was going on, he called the nurses hot line and they said to get me to an ER soon. So we woke David about 3:30 and asked if we could bring the kids by. We dropped them off and David and Thomas gave me a blessing. By the time we got to the ER, my feet and arms itched and my lips and tongue were starting to swell and tingle. They gave me a big dose of Benadryl and something else and waited for a few hours to make sure the reaction was subsiding. It finally did, after another dose of Benadryl. They told me to stay on it for 24-48 hours to make sure all the histamine in my body was gone. It was close, but we stopped it before it got to bad. It scared us pretty good though. So for the next day and a half I was pretty out of it. Chey stepped up and was amazing. Thomas didn't have the option of not going to work, so he checked in every hour with her. She took care of Nait and me. She brought him to me to feed him and then did everything else herself. Yes, we could have had someone come help, but Thomas was so frantic about me and the huge project at work, he never called anyone. And yes, he had been sufficiently chastised for it ( by several people ) and has realized his big oversite!! Lesson learned!! So by Friday afternoon I was waking up and really dehydrated and weak. We went to the softball game that night, by my insistence, to get out of the house. Staci took the older kids for the night and Thomas and I had a good nights rest. So now I am fine, all 10 lbs I lost in 24 hours is back and I feel great. But it was a bit scary for a while.

Saturday we helped some friends move out of their house. Then we did some shopping while the kids were still with Staci. We came home and went back out to a friends wedding reception and to our Ward party. By that night we were all beat! Sunday came early, and afternoon naps were long. We have another busy week planned with Nathaniels birthday on Tuesday and Kallie and Kassie's on Wednesday.

Other milestones for the week. Kallie's wire came off the bracket on her tooth, so when we were in fixing it, she was told she only has to loose 1 more tooth before they will take the shaping wires off. She and Kassie were very excited about that, Kassie is just one tooth behind her, so we are counting down!!

Nait has decided to roll over, alot. But only on my bed. He really dislikes the wood floor, even with a soft blanket. So we are looking for a newer, softer area rug for the living room. He is now up to 22 lbs, and technically to heavy for his carseat. But until we can get another one, it will have to do. The 18 month clothes that I thought for sure would last the summer, are fitting just right, in other words, will be too small next week!! Oh, just a side note, he was an excellent camper. He could lay/sit in his stroller and stare at the trees swaying for a very long time. He loved being outside and going for lots of walks with the kids.

Broc has decided he does not like cleaning his room. And will get away without doing it somehow or another. But to his dismay, I have resorted to checking everyday, before the TV/games go on or the bikes & scooters come out. It is a horrible task for him suddenly and thus a challenge for me. But we are working on making it more fun.

Kallie and Kassie are very anxious for their birthday. They know they are getting new bikes, we've had to try several out to make sure we get ones that will last several more years. So they just want a few little things like bug books and ocean life books. They had been reading like crazy and keeping track of their hours for the library program. Their party at the lake is what they have been waiting for 6 months for when they figured out their b-day was on a Wed. They are so funny!!

Chey is reading alot too. Her program is a little different and is awarded by pages. She has to show the books she read to the directors. So we have to keep close track of her books. She was such an amazing help this last week. I know she is only 10, but she can be much more mature when it is necessary, luckily she really know how to be a kid still also. But in a few years she will be a very valuable babysitter to many families in our ward.

Thomas has been working way to many hours. Work work is demanding and on very tight time constraints right now. He also has a few side jobs that are really under the gun too. So most of last week he worked until midnight and was up again at 5. He know he can't keep that schedule for very long, but can manage it for a few days when necessary. He really enjoyed the camping trip and is anxious to find time to get back there for another weekend.

Sorry this ended up being so long. Hope your eyes survived. Next week should be entertaining also. Until next time...
